What’s not to love about this all-new 55 inch Amazon Fire TV?UNBOXINGThe whole experience from delivery to commissioning was completely seamless; the packaging is strong and very sturdy, using a lot of bio-degradable materials; the unboxing was a delight, and fixing the (included) wall mount was a piece of cake.AMAZON INTEGRATIONNow comes the Amazon Magic! Switch on the TV, and it already knew me, and my Amazon Prime Account. After a brief online security check, all my content and apps automatically appeared on-screen, and setup was done!OPTICAL AUDIO OUTI’m using a JBL soundbar with sub-woofer which are connected to my 55 inch Amazon Fire TV using an optical cable (not supplied), and by simply changing settings on the TV my audio system automatically switches on and off with the TV, and the supplied TV Remote has volume controls for my cinema sound. The sound reproduction is First Class. I can’t comment on the built-in TV Speakers, because I haven’t used them.PICTURE QUALITYThere are lots of presets for the screen, including Natural, Cinema, Gaming, etc., and you can also set a customised screen to your own liking. The picture quality is excellent, every bit as good as my other TV from a famous brand that costs 4X the price of my 55 inch Amazon Fire TV. I’m impressed!HDMI & CONNECTIVITYI’m only using HDMI1 because all my content is streamed and I have been using an Amazon Firestick, and Google Chromecast. The Chromecast is plugged into HDMI1, and the TV automatically switches to it when you want to use it. However, I don’t think I’ll be using the Chromecast much, because Fire TV is so good, and has an amazing remote control.I’m also using a 2TB External hard drive plugged into the fast USB. Playing movies, even in HD, is a perfect experience with no lag or juddering.Access to the sockets on the wall-mounted TV is OK if you have small arms, and although I’m only using HDMI1, Optical Audio Out and one USB, there is plenty of connectivity for other equipment.JUST ONE THING…This version of FireTV only allows Alexa to speak 2 languages, viz. English (Indian), or Hindi. My Amazon Firestick, Echo Show 8, Echo Show 5, Echo, and Echo Dot all have settings for English UK, Aus, USA, etc, Spanish, French, German, and many other languages. I really would like to use Alexa on my 55 inch Amazon Fire TV in my native language – it makes it easier for Alexa to understand me, and easier for me to understand Alexa.I hope that this will come in a software update.CONCLUSIONI think that this 55 inch Amazon Fire TV is amazing, and I would recommend it without hesitation.

The media could not be loaded. Purchased 50inch 4K TV in December 2021 sale. The price has fallen by nearly Rs. 5500 in a year. Writing it after nearly one year use.Firstly, a free advice – Don’t listen to so called YouTube experts for this TV who diss this TV about picture quality, refresh rate, brightness. They are idiots, who are expecting features of a Rs.70000+ TV in this. This is more than sufficient for a home entertainment and above average gaming experience. If you were able to buy TV worth Rs.70000+, you wouldn’t be reading a review of this TV now. So, I hope you get the gist.Ok, now coming to the TV…1. Picture quality – both normal and 4K – perfect. True resolution. supports up to 60 fps. To check you can search and watch 60fps video from YouTube. I watched Rings of Power, House of Dragon, Avengers Endgame, Inside Out, Frozen, Inception, Doctor Strange – for their bright colors in the movies. Excellent experience. Downloaded and watched 4K Secrets of Dumbledore – again excellent quality. VLC media player works.2. Installation & UI – Easy installation by Amazon technician. TV comes with a wall mount with which you can move TV left / right. For swivel mount, inform the technician but costs Rs.1500 extra. Fire TV OS will update automatically when connected to Wifi first. UI is simple and smooth. (Tip – Alexa in TV also works for other smart appliances connected to the same account. For example, lights on/off, plugs on/off will work via TV Alexa voice control too)3. Sound is a bit disappointing for my liking. At this price, I wasn’t expecting much either and it was exactly as I imagined. Just flat with too much treble and absolutely no bass whatsoever. It says 20W but the output is disappointing. JBL Flip4 has 16W output and I feel that’s better than the TV output. I purchased JBL SB271 soundbar (220W wireless woofer) recently in Diwali sale for Rs.10800 for better sound output.[The soundbar is excellent. Terrific bass and cinematic experience. Jurassic Park the Dinosaur entry & water glass scene experience was amazing. You’ll feel the bass at every step of the dinosaur. HDMI1 acts as HDMI ARC and I have connected the soundbar to the TV via HDMI1. This also enabled all the Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital sound features in the TV. Once connected, fiddle around the sound settings to enable the Dolby settings. The TV also supports CEC – meaning you can power on/off, volume +/- using the Fire TV remote. JBL remote only needed for changing the sound modes. The CEC pairing process is a bit slow and sometimes may not exactly as you want it. But it will work. Be patient and go through all the attempts. If the tv goes to standby, the soundbar also powers off. But when you switch on the TV, soundbar may not switch on. So use jbl remote in such situations. Most times it works smoothly. The sound output if connected through Bluetooth will be a bit lesser obviously as WIRED will always be better than WIRELESS connectivity. Note: The soundbar does not have AUX port.]4. Important tips -(a) The TV supports 5GHZ Wifi. Do not listen to anyone who say it doesn’t. What you have to do is, you have to go into the admin settings of your router and change your 5Ghz Wifi channel from “Auto” to “Channel 44” and restart the TV. If you can’t change, ask your ISP to do it. Once done, you should be able to connect to 5Ghz Wifi and enjoy high-speed internet. This is a global feature applicable for Firestick as well.(b) The TV supports up to 2TB external hard disk only. Anything above, it will not read.(c) You can connect keyboard and game controllers via bluetooth to play games but I wouldn’t recommend it if you are an avid gamer. The in-built games are more for kids and not for adults.(d) Buy a silicon remote cover for the TV’s remote as the remote is light and also relatively flimsy. So chances are that if you drop a couple of times it could break.(e) Low priced TWS earbuds or bluetooth headphones will not be suitable for bluetooth audio output from TV as there will be a lag. Need to have something with low latency to have a seamless experience.(f) Screen mirroring works perfectly – Switch on Screen mirroring in your phone and then on your TV. Connect and voila. (Both TV and phone should be on the same wifi network.)I deducted ONE STAR because of the sound, but as explained above it is fixable with a soundbar worth Rs.10000 to Rs.12000. My recommendation after usage – JBL SB271.

The TV was great in terms of picture clarity, etc. But 3-4 months of use and the TV started getting “hanged”, obviously a software issue. The repair team made few visits, but couldn’t rectify. Ultimately, Amazon refunded the cost of TV and took it away. Not a good experience, but thank you Amazon for refunding the entire cost of TV, normally vendor gives another piece, not refund the entire amount. So, completely satisfied with Amazon.
